Visiting Scientist | Nov. 2018-Mar. 2019

Department of Material Science and Engineering,

North Carolina State University, Raleigh, USA

>> For about four months, I joined Prof. Jay Narayan's research group at NCSU.  I worked on the project: “New phase of carbon, named Q-carbon”. In this project, amorphous carbon (a-C) films were annealed by nanosecond pulsed laser (ArF) which converted to Q-carbon and diamond under super undercooling conditions.

In addition, I trained in the laser safety operation and usage of analysis facilities at the AIF Center.

As a result of this visit, we could publish two papers in collaboration work:

A. Zkria et al,  Applied Physics Express 13, 105503 (2020)

A. Zkria et al, MRS Communication 9 (2019) 910–915
